About me
I am a biologist by training and have worked in the pharmaceutical industry in various roles over the past 20+ years in the Basel area and in the U.S. I am transitioning into software engineering, driven by a long-standing interest in computer science and technology, and by how AI is reshaping the job market. Over recent years I built foundations in Linux administration, deep learning, and web development. Today I am actively building and operating my first professional software engineering project, swatchdog.ch
— a free and open-source civic transparency site for Swiss government and parliament data — which I am passionate about.

Work experience
I’m building swatchdog.ch
, a free and open-source civic transparency site that presents official Swiss parliament and government data in an easy-to-understand, searchable, multilingual interface. I'm starting with official campaign-financing data from the Swiss Federal Audit Office for federal votes.
I provide scientific consultancy services part-time to diverse clients within my established pharmaceutical network. Additionally, I have pursued continuous education in computer science, successfully earning an online degree in Deep Learning, a subset of Machine Learning, and obtaining a certification in Linux System Administration.
During my sabbatical, I explored the southern regions of Europe and embarked on extended hikes in Switzerland with our dog. Along the way, I rediscovered my passion for computers and found myself captivated by the progress in artificial intelligence. This led me to begin my ongoing exploration of computer science and information technology, commencing with an online degree in web development from Udacity.
I evaluated the potential for marketing Alicaforsen® in Switzerland on behalf of a British pharmaceutical company, tapping into my well-established network of experts in gastroenterology, particularly those specializing in inflammatory bowel disease. Furthermore, I conducted research into other active pharmaceutical ingredients for potential in-licensing and subsequent marketing, with a particular emphasis on securing an orphan-drug registration.
